Writers

Shannon Baker - When the Mountains Called

Shannon proudly considers herself an "amateur writer."  She attended Luther College where she double-majored in English (Writing) and Spanish, a degree that she fulfilled by completing an honors senior project entitled The Swan Song, a creative fiction novel about a young woman who, after living abroad in Argentina, must learn how to navigate culture shock (and reverse culture shock) and understand how to reconcile her "abroad identity" and "at home identity" after her journey.  Shannon's purpose in writing When the Mountains Called was to investigate similar themes of self-understanding, loss, and how escaping one's comfort zone can integrate the two.  Aside from writing, Shannon enjoys running, reading, hiking, and traveling to and exploring new places.
